National Student Clearing House
School leaders: there’s a reasonably priced service, The National Student Clearing House, which allows high schools to track their graduates’ college going rate, graduation rate, and much more. Check out this sample report: http://www.studentclearinghouse.org/highschools/pdfs/ST_sample_report.pdf
As you try to further inculcate your culture with a college-bound mentality, it might be helpful to publicize your historical trends for college matriculation numbers (2 and 4-year), percentage returning for 2nd year of college numbers, college graduation numbers, and perhaps more. You and your administration could then put together goals for each of these measures, helping send the message that college graduation is the end game.
These states have agreements that allow all their public high schools to enroll and receive these reports for free: NE, NY, KY, TX, GA, and FL. (Nebraska’s Department of Education signed an agreement through March 31, 2011, which may or may not be renewed.) All other high schools pay $425 a year if the high school has more than 300 students and nothing if fewer than 300 students. Check out http://www.studentclearinghouse.org/highschools/default.htm for a list of schools in your state using this service to track their former students’ college graduation rates.
The National Student Clearinghouse is non-profit corporation and was spun off from Sallie Mae in 1993. Because of the personal student information required- name, DOB, graduation year- an agreement between school and the Clearing House is necessary.

JBTP has no affiliation with the National Student Clearinghouse. However, we do feel that understanding college graduation rates of high school alumni can help high schools and their families establish prudent priorities.
